Voting behavior available
- Plurality voting: select one candidate by default, or multiple candidates when the position allows it
- Approval voting: approve acceptable candidates within the position's selection limits
- Score voting: rate candidates with an integer score within the position's configured range
- Cumulative voting: distribute whole-number points among candidates, up to the position's point budget
- Quadratic voting: allocate votes using a credit budget, where allocating
qvotes to one candidate costsq²credits. Polls can optionally allow paid credit top-ups; elections use base credits only. - Required or optional positions (set a minimum of
1or0selections per position) - Optional candidate shuffling (reduces order bias)
- Optional step-by-step ballot mode (one position at a time)
- Optional Voter ID requirement before voting
How values are counted
Plurality votes and approvals each add 1 to a candidate's raw tally. Score voting adds the chosen score, cumulative voting adds allocated points, and quadratic voting adds the allocated quadratic votes—not the credits spent.
A score of 0 is an explicit score when the configured range permits it; it is not the same as leaving a candidate unscored. Cumulative allocations must be whole numbers and cannot exceed the position's point budget. Quadratic allocations are whole numbers, and each allocation costs the square of its vote value in credits.
If weighted voting is enabled, Pepvote also calculates an effective weighted value by multiplying the raw tally value by the voter's normalized weight. This affects tally presentation without changing the raw vote, score, or point allocation.
